Pumpkin Carving Ideas

We have decided to take the plunge this year and carve pumpkins. We usually paint since our kids have been young. but this year they have requested that we carve. I have been scouring the internet for easy and simple carving stencils. I came across several easy ones that the kids can work on with help. We are thinking Wonder Woman and Mickey Mouse. It will probably be more than I am prepared for. But we are going to tackle it anyway.

I found hundreds of Disney stencils in my search for the perfect Mickey Mouse. So if you and your kiddos are looking for pretty much anything Disney this is the place to look.

Wonder Woman was harder to find. Everyone had silhouettes, and there is just no way my 5 year old can handle that. I finally found this idea of doing her symbol. It is still a little complicated, but with help from Mom and Dad I am sure we can make it happen easier than a silhouette. Face Paint for Kiddos

This year my kids wanted to help at their school fall fundraiser. We get to choose a booth to run every year and of course they wanted to run the face paint booth. I am not the greatest at painting. We also have a lot of children with allergies and skin sensitivities — my own kids included — so I wasn’t sure how easy it would be to find sensitive face paint. So I did a little research to make my own.

I found this great and simple recipe to make face paint out of corn starch. Thank you to Pop Sugar for an easy and safe alternative.

We even found some great ideas for face painting. Some of them are on the more difficult side. So You can pick which are easier for you. I enjoyed that I could print the images and use them as reference while I painted. It also was an excellent way for the kids to see what they could choose to have painted.

Over all we had a great time at the Fall Fundraiser. Our booth was pretty popular. The kids had a good time, and that is all we can ask for.

Save the Pumpkin: Preserve those Carved Pumpkins!

We all love to carve a pumpkin at halloween. But they go bad so quickly! We have resorted to painting them in years past but now the kids are older and they are demanding a carving session. I love a carved pumpkin. They are so sweet to light and enjoy during the nights leading to halloween, and they make a house look ready on halloween night. I hate to see them rot. So this year we are researching ideas to keep them from rotting too soon.

I found several ideas, and asked several friends what has worked best for them in the past. And I have come to the conclusion that nothing is perfect, but there are several ways to keep the rotting from happening too soon.

We have gathered a couple of ideas for you to try out. We hope that this helps you to enjoy some of your favorite carved pumpkins this fall.
