Are your kids looking for some fun outdoor group games to play when their friends come over this summer? Are you having a birthday party or summer party and need a new great game to keep everyone busy? Well we may have found the perfect game.

Parents.com has a fun new idea for groups to play outside this summer. This Balloon Noodle game is fun for all ages and would make an excellent addition to your party game collection. What is so much fun about the game is watching people learn how to manipulate the balloons around the yard and eventually into the basket using only their pool noodles. It is also a great game to teach cooperation and teamwork because many players will find they need help from other noodles to get their balloons where they are supposed to be.

What You Will Need:

Pool noodles
Scissors (cut each pool noodle in half so that each player has one noodle short enough to hold and wield, also saves money on noodles)
Balloons
Laundry basket (depending on how many players you have you may want two or more baskets)
Timer

What You Will Do:

1. Place inflated balloons all over the backyard.
2. Place the laundry baskets about 5-10 feet apart in the center of the hard.
3. Give each player a half of a pool noodle.
4. Tell each player they have 5 minutes to try and get as many balloons as possible into the baskets. Using only their pool noodle, nothing else can touch the balloon.
5. To play with teams have each team have to get a specific color balloon into their basket. Team with the most balloons in their basket wins.

Now have fun, and don’t forget, their is no “I” in team!

Summer Fun: Hula Hoop Hurrah!

Did you ever go to summer camp? Summer camp remains to this day some of the fondest memories of an adults childhood years. Summer Camp was a magical place where parents weren’t around, school was over, and kids run around playing and trying new things. It can be a great time to spend with friends or even with siblings or cousins. Summer camp was a time when kids worked together playing games and learning new things.

While Summer Camp still exists, most people cannot afford to send their kids in today’s world. So it is no wonder that so many kids spend their summers in front of the TV playing video games or watching TV or movies. So this year lets make an effort to get those kids outside. We may not be able to completely replicate summer camp but why not gather a bunch of your kids friends and let them play games and do activities they might do at summer camp. All summer long we will find great outdoor activities for your kids to do with a group. Because after all, the more the merrier.

This week let’s check out a classic outdoor camp activity, the hula hoop game. This is a group game that requires kids to work together to move a hula hoop around their bodies and around their friends bodies in a circle while holding hands, and not ever letting go!

Hula Hoop Game:

Begin by standing in a circle, about 5-10 kids. Place a hula hoop on one child’s arm, then have all the children hold hands. Now they have to try and move the hula hoop through the circle, and over each others bodies, without unblinking hands.

This classic game will bring lots of fun, laughs, and it will keep those kids outside. So give it a try, you may find that everyone has so much fun they won’t even remember they own a tv. Check out Spoonful.com for other great classic outdoor games!

The summer heat is really settling in now and everyone is getting hot. Even parents are looking for some fun ways to stay cool in this crazy summer heat. But we don’t want to rely upon all the boring summer games we have always relied upon. Why not shake up that boring old routine and find some new ways to get cool when you’re out of school this summer?

This month we found a great blog written by a Mom who knows all about finding fun and interesting things to do with friends and family. Brittany a Mom of four, loves to throw fun and beautiful parties. Brittany even offers some great tutorials and sells some amazing party planners, and party themes on her blog for every occasion, just check out One Charming Party.

Here at The Boy’s Store we cannot wait to try her fun Sponge Ball Tutorial. We all know the idea behind sponges, to soak up as much water as possible. So it makes sense to use it as a way to soak up water and throw it at a target, even if that target is a friend or family member. This fun play on water balloons is actually quite ingenious. Now you can soak up water and have fun hitting your friends and family with a cool splash all day long without stopping to make new balloons. Simply soak the sponge ball and toss. When they are thrown at you grab them and give them a quick soak in a bucket and toss them right back! Talk about easy ammunition. At the end of the game there is very little clean up, and no pesky water balloon pieces to clean up. Just good old fashioned fun in the sun.

What You Will Need:

Sponges (3 sponges for each ball)
Sharp scissors
Dental floss

What You Will Do:

1. Cut each sponge into into four equal pieces. To make it easy cut the sponge in half lengthwise, then cut each half in half lengthwise again.
2. Repeat with other sponges.
3. Arrange each piece in a random order and squeeze them together into a bunch. Now use your dental floss to tie them together in the middle. Trim off excess dental floss.
4. Now fluff out the sponges to create a ball.

Now go ahead and get some buckets of water ready and prepare for the water fight of your life! Want to make it a water party? Check out the party planning packs made by Brittany at One Charming Party now!
