The nicer weather is beginning to show its face so it is time to get those bored boys out of the house and back in the yard. We have been very excited to find fun things for the boys to do. We want them to get back outside and play, and we want to share some fun ideas with you so that you too can be excited that they are back outside.

This month while looking for some fun activities for those busy boys we stumbled upon a gem of a blog called Housing a Forest. This great blog was created by Mom of three, Tammy. Tammy knows what it is like to have a house full of kiddos and how much better it feels to get those kiddos out in nature, having fun, learning, and exploring. That is why she shares her blog with so many different parents and features great ideas and motivators to get those kids outside and in the thick of the great outdoors. This month we want to highlight a great tutorial from her blog that will keep your kids outside for hours. Rainbow Bubble Snake.

What is a Rainbow Bubble Snake you may ask? Well it is a bubble just like the bubbles we blow with wands in the great outdoors all summer, only this bubble is shaped like a snake, and colored every shade of the rainbow. It is a fun outdoor craft that can be done at home with very little shopping and scavenging around the house. You just need a few simple materials.

What You Will Need:

Empty water bottle
Duct tape
Sock
Dish soap
Food coloring

What You Will Do:

1. First you want to cut the bottom out of your recycled water bottle.
2. Next you will slide your sock over the bottom of the bottle.
3. Secure the sock with duct tape.
4. Now pour some dish soap into a shallow container with a little bit of water. And gently mix them together.
5. Add some food coloring to the bottom end of the sock.
6. Now dip your sock into the dish soap solution.
7. Place your mouth on the drinking spout side of the water bottle and blow! (Remember not to suck in you do not want to ingest the soap solution.) as you blow a colorful snake will come out of the sock end. Enjoy changing your snake’s color every time you blow a new one!
