Red, White, and Blue: 4th of July Desserts

Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays. I love the fireworks, the warm summer sun, the cool night, and the beautiful fireworks. I love to have a little something sweet to complete the delicious summer meal we all enjoy. So I was very excited to come across this sweet and simple red, white and blue themed 4th of July dessert.

Thank you to Two Sister’s for such a delicious and simple treat to complete my meal plan today. You can find this incredible recipe on the Two Sister’s site. It may very quickly become my favorite summer treat. Strawberry Shortcake is almost always a crowd pleaser, especially in a household filled with strawberry lovers like ours. So it only makes sense to create this delicious homemade update perfect for the holiday.

Fourth of July Treats!!

Looking for easy Fourth of July treats with very little fuss and muss? This sweet treat will get you outside and munching instead of spending so much time in the kitchen prepping, cooking, and baking. This fun no bake dessert is simple to make, fun to decorate, and delicious to eat.

Nutrition Information

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 package (10 oz., about 40) JET-PUFFED Marshmallows
  • OR
  • 4 cups JET-PUFFED Miniature Marshmallows
  • 6 cups Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® cereal
  • blue wilton melts
  • red wilton melts
  • white wilton melts
  • sprinkles
  • straws

DIRECTIONS

1. In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.

2. Add KELLOGG’S RICE KRISPIES cereal. Stir until well coated.

3. Using buttered spatula or wax paper evenly press mixture into 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan coated with cooking spray. Cool. Cut into 2-inch squares.

4. Stick patriotic straws in to the back of the rice krispie.
5. Melt blue chocolate in a bowl, melt red chocolate in another bowl.

6. carefully dip rice krispies in colored chocolate then sprinkle with red, white, and blue sprinkles or drizzle with white chocolate.

MICROWAVE DIRECTIONS:
In microwave-safe bowl heat butter and marshmallows on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth. Follow steps 2 and 3 above. Microwave cooking times may vary.

Note

-For best results, use fresh marshmallows.
-1 jar (7 oz.) marshmallow crème can be substituted for marshmallows.
-Diet, reduced calorie or tub margarine is not recommended.
-Store no more than two days at room temperature in airtight container.
-To freeze, place in layers separated by wax paper in airtight container. Freeze for up to 6 weeks. Let stand at room temperature for 15 minutes before serving.

The Fourth of July is a time to celebrate our beautiful country. This year our country is 239 years young and we are excited to share this incredible day with all of our friends and families. America is the land of the free, and the home of the brave.
