Fourth of July Wind Sock

Fourth of July wind sock

This July try sprucing up your yard with some patriotic paraphernalia. All you need is a little helper and some old tin cans. With a little creativity and a little work you will have a great new decoration that will not only show off your crafty skills but also show off your patriotic pride! This is a fun craft that can be done with the help of your little ones at home and even makes a great gift for neighbors and friends or family. Make a few of them and gift them to your loved ones this Fourth of July.

What You Will Need:

Tin cans
White contact paper
Star stencil (or freehand it if you are crafty enough!)
Blue paint
Red ribbon
White ribbon
Hot glue gun
Twine or rope
A drill or a hammer and nail

What You Will Do:

Begin by cleaning out the tin cans and removing any labels they may have been covered with. Next paint them a beautiful blue and let the paint dry.

You can cut your stars out of your white contact paper and place them on the tin can as soon as the paint is completely dry. Use as many or as few as you want.

Cut equal lengths of your white and red ribbon. Use your hot glue gun to glue the ribbon ends to the inside of the can, space them in a pattern, red, white, red, white.

With all the ribbons now glued on. Drill or use a hammer and nail to pierce two holes about an inch apart on the top of the can. Next cut a piece of twine, thread it through the can, tie a knot and hide it on the inside of the can. Now you have the perfect hanger for your new Fourth of July wind sock.
