Fanta Floats: Halloween Treats

Part of Halloween is enjoying the little things, decorations, fall weather, time together, a good scare, and a sweet treat. This sweet treat is perfect for a family night. You can lay back and enjoy a fun or spooky flick and enjoy a sweet Halloween treat.

We found this sweet idea at Belle of the Kitchen. Ashlyn knows how to make a fun and yummy sweet treat. Head on over to  Belle of the Kitchen for the full recipe.

We paid it with some fun popcorn mixed with candy corn while we enjoyed a fantastic family flick, Hocus Pocus. In our family we have movies that make us feel that the season is actually here and we are ready to enjoy it, and for Halloween that movie is Hocus Pocus. If you haven’t seen it you should check it out. Its a great family film that isn’t too scary for the little kids, and is still fun enough for the older kids. Its a family favorite for us and we cannot imagine Halloween without it. It reminds my husband and I of our childhood, and every year it is so much fun to share it with our kids. Now I know how my parents felt sharing A Charlie Brown Christmas with us. Enjoy your traditions folks, and may they last forever!

Spooky Cookies: Chocolate Chip Spider Cookies

It is officially October which means that I can officially post Halloween ideas without angering other people. Yes, my favorite holidays are Christmas, Halloween, and Easter. Yes, those holidays last longer than just one month in my house. Yes, I decorate, and yes my Halloween decorations have been up for three weeks already. No, I will not apologize for it. Now that the rest of the world has caught up we can begin celebrating in earnest.

First on the agenda is food. Because food is life, and treats are the best. We do a lot of baking in the fall and winter. It all starts during the Halloween season. My kids and I just did a whole batch of Star Wars Sugar Cookies to share with the kindergarten class. But next on my agenda is Halloween cookies. Since we just did roll out sugar cookies I am not so sure I want to spend my day rolling out, cutting, and decorating again so soon. But I do want some fun Halloween treats on hand. So after doing a little looking, I found something that will be simple to make, be fun, look great, and give me that sweet treat I am looking for.

Spooky Cookies

Chocolate Chip Spider Cookies are the way to go this year. This amazing little recipe and tutorial from Tastes Better From Scratch is perfect for the spooky season. Lauren from Tastes Better From Scratch has a great and simple recipe that will knock your socks off. Sometimes we make the mistake of trying to impress at holiday time with fantastic out of this world recipes, meals, desserts, and decor. But with so much going on in my life I discovered it is best to do what I enjoy, make myself happy, and just live my best life possible. So I make treats because I want them, and I decorate them because I want something fun to brighten my day. But, I know my limits, and with so much going on right now this fun and simple dessert is right up my alley. So thank you, Lauren, for reminding me that simple is great!

The Best Halloween Cupcakes

Halloween is a time to have fun and be a little crazy. That can mean dressing up as your favorite character, becoming a monster, ghost, or goon, or eating a LOT of goodies. Goodies come in all shapes and sizes during October. Candy is a huge deal, but have you ever tried cupcakes? Now cupcakes can be difficult to handout to trick-or-treaters, so we are not suggesting that. However, if you plan a Halloween party every year, hand out treats at school, or just enjoy a treat at home with your kids cupcakes are the perfect treat medium.

Heather at Chickabug, has a list of the 30 cutest cupcakes for Halloween. From ghosts and bats to zombie brains and pumpkins the list goes on and on. Cupcakes can be more than just a great treat, they can be art. Some of the cupcakes highlighted at Chickabug are indeed art. They feature incredible colors, pieces of candy, and details that almost make us not want to eat them they are so incredibly cool looking. We did say almost, after all, they are cake.
