Halloween Crafts: Fluffy Pumpkin Slime

Slime has been very popular the last few years. In our house we love to make it, we try to avoid the recipes that ask for Borax which can irritate skin, but otherwise we do enjoy a good slime recipe. Instead of Borax (or liquid Starch which still contains Borax) we choose to use either contact solution or baking soda.

We wanted a fun Halloween themed slime to keep the kids busy this month and we found this fun and simple recipe at I Heart Arts N Crafts. This recipe uses baking soda and saline solution with shaving cream to create that fun fluffy texture.

You can make it in any color you want, we love the orange as it reminds us of pumpkins and that just screams Halloween. I Heart Arts N Crafts has an incredibly easy tutorial that is simple to follow, my 7 year old actually made it alone while I worked in the kitchen on dinner. We put out some of our fun Halloween themed toys like spider rings, skulls, bats, and got some little plastic pumpkins for the kids to play with and stick in the slime. It made for a good long activity that lasted all night.

Mother’s Day Crafts

Are you looking for a great craft for kids to make this Mother’s Day? This fun little crafts will make an excellent gift for mom, auntie, or grandma this mother’s day. Mom’s love gifts from the heart and crafts make the perfect gift full of love. My mother still pulls out all of our old crafts and displays them during the holidays. She tells each of the grandkids which items their parents made and how old they were. It is one of her favorite parts of being a grandma, sharing her favorite pieces of the past with their next generation. That is why I love to find new and adorable items to help the grandkids make to add to her collection. This year I found an adorable snail craft. I cannot wait for the kids to gift it to her on Mother’s Day.

Mother's Day Crafts

The part I loved the most about this sweet craft? The CD we use to build it. My kids were so worried I was ruining a Bluray. Don’t worry, I didn’t. I still have tons of old cd’s that used to come in the mail as promos for internet companies. Yes I know, I just dated myself. Remember when AOL used to send discs to offer free trial runs? Oh, the days of yore! If you’re like me and never throw anything away that could be used in arts and crafts then I bet you have plenty hanging around for this fun craft. So break them out and get crafty! Happy Mother’s Day!
