Mom Jobs: But Then There is Mother’s Day

Maybe it is just because it is Mother’s Day, but have you ever realized how much you do as a mom? Are there certain kings that only Moms do? Or at least it seems only we do. We have compiled a little list of duties that seem to always fall to Mom. Some are true, some are very true, and some are very sad but true. They are all pretty funny.

Finder of all the things!!! Every. Single. Day. Someone loses something, it can be the kids, the dogs, the hubby, you name it. Something goes missing and the first thing everyone roars is, “mom can you help me find……”

The healer of all. Everyone gets sick, including mom. But when everyone else is sick it’s, “mom I don’t feel well!” When Mom gets sick it’s, “mom can you take me to….”

The keeper of the food. No matter where we are, no matter what we are doing. When someone gets hungry it’s Mom’s job to feed them.

The taxi driver. We should get paid for how much mileage we put on our cars.

The fixer of broken things. No matter how many times we try to explain that not all plastic toys are fixable they still expect it to magically glue back together. Sigh.

Cleaner of the everything. Filler of the dishwasher. Laundry washer. You name it. They defile it, we shine it.

Playmate! When no one else is available who is going to be asked to play. Mom of course.

Storyteller. Well we do make the best voices.

Booboo kisser. Well we are the best at it.

Tucker inner. Whether it’s a story, a kiss, tucking in the sheets, or singing a song, mom is always the one to get us ready for bed.

Since it is Mother’s Day we hope that you are enjoying taking the day off from your most important jobs. Or at least most of them, enjoy your day Mom!

Mother’s Day: #Bepresent

We love to help our friends and family. This year one of our friends, stores, and fellow bloggers, Western Border and Co. Is beginning an incredible movement that we want to be a part of. The movement is call #Bepresent.

It all began when one of the blog contributors at Western Border and Co. Wrote a blog about her grandmother that is suffering with Alzheimer’s. The family is placing her in a care facility due to her failing health and everyone has decided that she doesn’t need any more things this year, she needs time. She needs her family. She needs to be present. So we want to help the. And everyone out there gain a little more time with the loved ones in their lives.

This Mother’s Day we want you to #Bepresent with your mom, grandma, aunt, sister, daughter, whoever the moms in your life are and spend the day with them. Laugh with them. Share with them. Make memories. Take pictures so you can always remember that time together when you were present and let no one and nothing come between you. All you have to do is hashtag #Bepresent and tag us in your photos on our the Boy’s Store Instagram¬†and on Western Border and Co. Instagram. We want to see all your beautiful faces happy to share the day together. Let’s show the world what really matters. Family. Time. Love. Memories. #Bepresent

Mother’s Day Crafts!!

We love our moms. They clean up our dirty bottoms, clean our cuts, kiss away booboos, and tuck us in at night. The role of mom is a busy one, can be long and tiring, but it is also very rewarding. That’s why we love Mother’s Day. It is one of the days when our kids and spouses come out and show us what we mean to them, and that is important. So why not show mom how much we love her this Mother’s Day with some fabulous flower crafts.

Paper Flower pot: this is an excellent craft for younger children. All you need is some glue, some construction paper, scissors, a marker, and an adult!

Trace your hand on a sheet of green construction paper. Then cut out your handprint.
Now draw a flowerpot on a piece of construction paper (your color choice). Then cut it out.
Now draw 5 little flowers on your construction paper (your color choice, what is moms favorite color?) then cut them out.
Glue the handprint fingers up onto the back of the pot, so it looks like it is growing out of the pot. Next glue your flowers onto the top of the five fingers.
Use your marker to write a special Mother’s Day note to your mom on the front of the pot. Now you have a very special flower pot bouquet for mom!

Clothespin Planter: this is perfect for older kids to do for mom. You need an old tuna can (washed out with no lid), some clothes pins, some soil, and a plant.

Start with your washed out tuna can. Choose a small plant or flower to put in it. Fill the bottom of the can in soil, then carefully place your plant on top. Fill the plant in with more soil, then pat down. Leave a half inch of space between the soil and the top of the tuna can.
Now take your clothes pins and clip them around the edge of the tuna can. Do this all the way around.
Now you have a fancy little plant for mom. Water it and bring it to your mom for a spectacular gift!
