Family Movie Night: Big Hero 6

Are you looking for a fun movie night for some much needed family time? We recently watched Big Hero 6 and the kids loved it. It can be difficult to pick a movie that appeals to everyone. But Disney did great with this movie. It has a great family dynamic amongst the main characters, it offers incredible laughs, and it has some pretty awesome special effects. It keeps you laughing, excited, worried, and touched up until the very end. What is also great is that it has a deeper meaning. Don’t give up, live up to your potential, and always remember your family is there for you. These are some pretty simple paradigms, but they mean a lot, in the movie, and in real life.

We live in such a fast paced world and our kids seem to grow up so much faster than before that it can be difficult to slow down and enjoy it all. We try to do family night at least once a week but there are weeks that it does not include everyone, either Dad has to work late, Mom has to work late, or someone has a game or practice.but we don’t let that’s stop us. We just plan an even better family night for the next week. We know that our time together is short but we don’t want to just let it pass by. So we take the time.

So why not try family night yourself this week? Spice it up with some fun. Rent or buy Big Hero 6 and you can try this fun popcorn mix. You will be glad you took the time.

Popcorn Treats: Snowmen Popcorn Balls

Snowmen Popcorn Balls

With winter in full swing we sometimes need to find a warm and yummy snack to eat in the warm house while we play a game, watch a movie, or do a craft. We enjoy sitting inside the warm house on these cold days but sometimes our boys can get a little bored. When they are popping in their favorite movie to melt away their boredom think about also exciting them with this sweet treat, Popcorn Snowmen. Popcorn Snowmen are the perfect movie treat in the middle of winter. Your kids will enjoy how cute and fun they are as well as how tasty they are. They are even pretty simple to make and can make for a fun before movie activity. Just gather your materials and all your little helpers and get ready to build some sweet snowmen. Thank you to Spoonful for this great recipe!

Way You Will Need:

15 cups of popped popcorn
1 stick of butter or margarine
2 10 oz. packages of marshmallows
1/4 cup confectioners sugar
Pretzel sticks
Candy corn
Mini jawbreakers
Gumdrops or red hots
Fruit leather
Wax paper

How To Make It:

1. Take a large mixing bowl and place the popcorn inside. In a small saucepan melt the butter on medium-low heat. Slowly add the marshmallows to the melting butter and stir until the marshmallows are completely melted as well. Next take a wooden spoon and mix the marshmallows and butter mixture with the popcorn. Stir so that the popcorn is coated evenly. Next shape the popcorn into balls, feel free to make small, medium, and large in order to form little snowmen.

2. On wax paper begin building your snowmen, placing the largest ball on the bottom, then the medium ball, then the small ball on top. Place two pretzel sticks into the middle ball to form arms. Add raisins for eyes and a candy corn for a nose. You can use the mini jawbreakers to form a little mouth, and gumdrops for the buttons on his chest (the middle ball.) next add the fruit leather as a scarf around the snowman’s neck.

3. If your decorations are not sticking to your snowman try making an icing glue batch with the confectioners sugar and a few drops of water. Stir until the icing is smooth and use it as a paste or glue to put the decorations on the snowmen. Then you and your little ones can enjoy a sweet treat!
