Outdoor Truck Track for Kids

My kids all love playing trucks. My two-year-old little boy loves his Tonka trucks and Caterpillar Trucks, he even got a brand new set for his birthday this winter. Now that the weather is improving and he can spend more time outside I wanted to create a fun outdoor area where he could drive his trucks, build, and move dirt all day long. He loves to move rocks, dirt, sticks, and everything else he can get his grimy little hands on while he plays. So we wanted to create something that was confined and allowed him to get things he could move safely and easily.

I came across this fun little area on Pinterest and knew right away I had to try to replicate it. We found some stones, some pavers, picked up some sand at the hardware store, found some pinecones, and some sticks and twigs for him to move and pickup and set to work creating a fun little zone just for him. It was simple, inexpensive and fast once we got started. Now he can play construction site all day long with his friends, siblings, or all by himself. Check out some of the ideas we used and feel free to create your own little construction zone! Thank you to Cute DIY Projects for some incredible ideas! Truck track truck track for kids

Outdoor Activities with Shaving Cream!

I love giving my kids activities to do outside, and they love it when those outdoor activities make a mess. I do NOT love it when they make a mess, even outside. So I try to find activities that while messy, are easy to clean up.

My kids played at a friends house and used shaving cream outside to make art on the sidewalk. We don’t actually have sidewalk since we live in a rural area. We do have a very large back patio, and they love to use chalk on it. I had been hesitant to let them do too much without being sure it would wash off. So I did a little research and found this fun website called The Tiptoe Fairy. This fun website features a shaving cream recipe that allows your kids to make their own puffy paint for sidewalks (or patios) that washes off easily.  Thank you Tiptoe Fairy for this great idea. Now my kids can make a mess, and I can be sure it comes off.

The Tiptoe Fairy has a very simple and easy to follow tutorial that will help you to recreate her foamy puff paint. My kids loved the paint. Although it does stick pretty well to the cement it washes off with moderate water pressure. It was the perfect way to get them unplugged and outside during their weekend playtime.

Spring Break Boredom Busters!

Spring Break started this week, and I have already heard those dreaded words, I’m BORED. Well not this year guys. I have planned to have play-dates every day of the week. Right now my kids are in the backyard with friends. I even checked out a few ideas for how to keep the boredom at bay.

The Dating Divas have a long list of Boredom Busters that every parent should have this spring break. Whether your kids are in to art, outdoor play, or indoor play, the list has something for EVERYONE. I am hoping that by having a friend over every day and implementing some of these boredom busters we will eliminate that dreaded phrase all week long.

We started out our week with some outdoor fun. Since the west coast has some gnarly storms coming in midweek we are taking advantage of some decent weather while we can. Currently my kids are all outside in the middle of scavenger hunt. We even got out our dress up kit and they are all decked out as pirates while they look for treasure. Instant fun! Be sure to check out the 60+ Boredom Busting ideas listed at The Dating Divas. You will definitely be glad you did!
