Toddler Learning Time

Do you have a toddler at home? All of my big kids went back to school but my littlest man is home and bored without his siblings. We have been trying to give him more learning activities to do at home so that he has something fun to do when everyone is at school.

Recently I have noticed that he has excellent gross motor skills. He can do larger movements with ease. But his fine motor skills needed a little help. I have been searching different ideas for helping him with his fine motor skills and I found a few things that would help him.

Threading: Threading things is an excellent development of fine motor skills. Place beads on a string or yarn is perfect practice. Check out this example for smaller kids that you are worried about giving actual beads too. The Imagination Tree created a fun beading tutorial involving paper towel rolls and toilet paper rolls instead for children that still have a tendency to place small items in their mouths. Check it out!

Frog Feeding: This fun pick-up and drop activity is a great way to teach fine motor skills in toddlers. It is also a lot of fun for little ones to do. Check out a Crafty Living for the complete tutorial.
