Valentine’s Day Pancakes

We love to get excited about holidays in this house. It may seem a little excessive, but if you can’t get excited about the little things then what can you get excited about? We all have work and school on Valentine’s day but I still like to do something special for everyone that helps us get a good and sweet start to our day. I found this fun little recipe for Valentine’s Day pancakes and it is simple to put together even on fast-paced school mornings.

Since we love pancakes so much I tend to make large batches over the weekend and freeze them so that we can just heat them up on weekdays and eat them. This is a great way to ensure your kids eat on school mornings when it can be difficult to get things ready. I like to make pancakes with a protein mix (and sometimes I even sneak in a little bit of blended spinach in and no one even notices!)

For this fun holiday breakfast I just use my previously frozen pancakes and leave out the fun fixings for the holiday theme. For the full tutorial check out Aunt Jemima’s site for the rundown. As I said, you can use their pancake mix or your own, whichever you prefer. Enjoy!

Boy Approved Valentine’s

Every year we like to highlight something fun and special for boys and Valentine’s Day. After all, appreciating the people in our lives is not only a girl thing. Boys frequently get left behind in the Valentine’s Day gift giving. Mostly because the holiday is very mushy and pretty. Well news-flash, BOYS HAVE FEELINGS TOO. So let’s forget this nonsense and get them in on the fun.

Heart Hedgehog Craft

I love a good holiday craft. Raise your hand if you are one of those moms that decorate for every holiday. GUILTY! I love to see the decorations and feel a little uplifted by the sweet colors and cheery appearance. I especially love it when my kids’ art crafts are displayed for the holiday season. I love to look at their little crafts and remember the day we made them, how old they were, and see how much they have grown. I try to do crafts with my kids at home. Even if it is only something small. For Valentine’s Day this year I wanted to do something different. Not the routine heart designs. That is when I happened upon this adorable Heart Hedgehog craft. It has the traditional heart and colors of Valentine’s day, but the little hedgehog is just so darling I couldn’t stand it — I just had to have it. Heart hedgehog Thank you to Fireflies and Mudpies for such a sweet and out of the box idea for my February craft. Now I have a brand new memory and a brand new craft to display every February. Check out this incredibly cute craft at Fireflies and Mudpies. Be sure to check out the other amazing ideas when you are there. You won’t regret it.
