Floam: Homemade DIY Recipe

Remember floam from when you were a kid?  It can be hard to find now, but it is actually pretty simple to make at home. Most of the ingredients are already in your house or can be inexpensively picked up at the grocery store. You and the kids will get lots of fun and play out of this simple recipe.

What You Will Need:

  • 2 tsp of borax (found in the laundry aisle)
  • 1/2 cup of warm water & 1/4 cup of warm water- divided
  • 2 oz of white school glue
  • 1 & 1/3 cups of polystyrene beads (bean bag filler)
  • 3-5 drops of food coloring

What You Will Do:

Combine your 2 teaspoons of borax and 1/2 cup of very warm  water in a clean bowl. Mix until the borax mixture is dissolved.

In a separate bowl combine 1/4 cup of white glue with a 1/4 cup of water. You can add food coloring to color the float now if you like.

Now pour the glue mixture in a ziplock bag. Then add the polystyrene beads and then add the borax and water mixture and seal.

Seal bag tight and mix the mixture well until it is formed. You can add more water for a thinner consistency and more borax for a thicker consistency.
